This set isn't what I was hoping for after I read all the glowing reports, but it's about what you would expect for the price after looking at all the other sets in the $100 range. This set is good enough for what I bought it for but if you're looking for a quality set that you will use a lot, this isn't the set. Really, the only complaint I have is the set is a little on the small size. The handles are short and thin, the mallets are rather small and the little posts with all the colors aren't much bigger around than a pencil---well maybe a little :o) The wickets and balls seem fine. So for an inexpensive, use sometime set---this will work fine. I'm going to say I would recommend this to a friend but I would tell them what I just posted.

    A friend and I played a single game on probably what was not the best croquet grass in the world. By the end of the game I had put a dent in the ball and the mallet head plastic cap was busted along with portions of the mallet head itself. My friend's mallet plastic cap was also busted in although not as bad as mine. I believe that the less than ideal conditions only sped up what would have soon happened anyway.

    I read bad reviews and hoped they were wrong, but they were all too correct.
